Hello Kitty turns 35

In anticipation of Hello Kitty's 35th birthday this year on Nov. 1, parent company Sanrio has a number of activities and product launches up its sleeves.

Retailers worldwide are expected to rollout special 35th anniversary merchandise in September for the character including jewelry, apparel and limited-edition collectibles. Sanrio Japan has already launched a Web site http://www.Kitty35.com .

Also this year, Hello Kitty has partnered with McDonald's for Happy Meals and MAC Cosmetics in the U.S.

Barbie celebrates its 50th anniversary

Barbie is 50! Barbie officially celebrated her 50th Birthday on March 9, 2009, which kicked off a yearlong celebration. Furthermore, Mattel released a new, cleaner, and more fashion oriented look for Barbie with the new Barbie Style Guide.
